Bokeh-Technique

I'm so into colours right now! I do enjoy all these technique where you mix colours together to create backgrounds or colourful stamped images. So yesterday, I finally got round to try the Bokeh-technique. It's actually something from a quite different field of creativity: Photography! You may recall pictures where light spots just appear as overlaying roundish circles. In card making, that overlaying effect is what you wanna get.

First, you need a background where several colours blend into each other. There are different ways to do it, I used my sponges to mix Daffodil delight, Pretty in Pink and Watermelon mambo for the pink card (Costal Cabana, Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point for the blue card).

Next you need some plasic Sheet with holes of different sizes in it. I used my thinlits to make the holes. (In the picture I already used some white, so you can see the circles more clearly.)

Then you take some white ink (Whispering White), put the plastic sheet on your card an dab the White where the holes are using a sponge. Some of the circles should overlap to get the desired effect, it's fun to just play around a bit. Careful, the white colour is pretty thick and wont dry as quickly as usual colours do. So it gets easiliy smeared. Just add circles until you like the effect. Do not overdo it, though, I like it best if there's some background left.

I should have added some more white colour to some of the circles, drying made it lighter somehow. But I like them nevertheless...
